Hands-on History Tours
Andover at Work in the 1820s… now available as a tour for visitors!
If your kids run in the opposite direction when history homework shows up, a walk in someone else’s shoes may just be the trick to getting them interested in the past!
Discover life in the 1820s on this interactive house and barn tour, with reservations offered every Thursday at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. beginning June 21st. Visit the Amos Blanchard house and witness what home looked like in the early 19th century. Peek into the kitchen, grind your own spices, and see how the housekeeper preserved food; try your hand at the printing press; and even experience a historical fire drill. With costumed guides that reflect the era, this tour goes the extra mile to bring history to life. Reservations are required a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Tour fee is $8 per person.
