Andover Historical Society on NBC’s Today Show…Maybe!

May 12th, 2009 by Elaine Clements

On Wednesday, May 6, NBC Today Show producer Curtis Vogel came to Andover to interview Nancy Haggerty Varnum and Lew Trumbore about growing up in Andover with Jay Leno. Vogel filmed the interview in the main gallery of the Historical Society, in front of our new exhibit title.  He also shot some footage of photographs of Andover in the 1970s from the Society’s collection.  The segment will air Monday, May 25, most likely in the first hour of the Today Show, 7:00-8:00 a.m. Watch for Nancy and Lew and maybe some of the Historical Society in the background!

The Today Show is running a week-long series, May 25-29, marking Jay Leno’s last night on the Tonight Show.  In February, while filming an interview with Today Show host Meredith Viera, Leno talked about growing up in Andover, mentioning friends, teachers, and places that meant a lot to him.  Producer Curtis Vogel contacted the Historical Society in April looking for help locating the people and places Leno mentioned.

Watch the Today Show Monday, May 25, to look for some familiar people and places around town!  The series on Jay Leno will continue on the Today Show the whole week.
